Charred Black Spruce Vessel

Carved from a forest fire–affected black spruce burl harvested near Fox Lake, this vessel preserves the material’s charred surface, fractures, and traces of early decay. These elements are stabilized rather than corrected, allowing the wood’s history to remain visible. A finely finished interior creates a deliberate contrast between containment and exposure.
